I'm subbing for a friend of mine tomorrow night at his ska, rocksteady, two-tone, early reggae night called Rudie Tuesdays. Two-tone dress is strongly encouraged there. MissKarina has made this skirt from a recycled T-shirt. It's too big for me, but maybe someone reading will find it to be a perfect fit. It would make a fun summer festival skirt.

Alas, another item to big for me - seller AlchemicDesigns, has this repurposed organic cotton tank with a design that continues to the back.

Etsy Sellers for Haiti

Many artists, crafters, and clothing makers of Etsy have graciously donated all or a portion of their profit on certain products to help victims in Haiti. Simply do a search for Haiti in the site's search engine or take a look at some of these links.

One Life Jewelry will donate 100% of the profits from this One Love pendant to Savethechildren.org. It comes in gold and silver varieties and will be available in the shop until supplies last.

Jewelry shop Beads in the Belfry is donating 50% of sales of this treasure map heart charm necklace to the American Red Cross.

If you have a bit more to spend and fit the sizing specifications, 100% of this beautiful hemp skirt from seller Artistically Stitched, will be donated to Conscious Alliance. 10% of all other sales from her shop will be donated to the same cause.

Positive Roots is owned and operated by a collection of artists and activists who use clothing and accessories as their medium. I think these shirts are absolutely beautiful, I just wish there were some women's sizes. My favorite is this turntable shirt of course.

Baseball Hats

Well back-to-school time means back to work for me. I apologize for the long time between posts. Though I'm pretty sure I don't have a huge audience (yet).

In honor of the Phillies clinching the NL East for the 3rd straight year, here is a photo of my husband's red, gold, & green Phillies hat that he bought about two years ago. Here's me wearing this Dubwise dress backwards as a skirt. It's a little too short for me to wear as a dress while I am DJing, but as a skirt, it was perfect. It was as perfect dress on the beach the very next day.

While this is not really reggae per se, you can make it so. I first saw this company mentioned on the website for cool reggae girls called Get Up Edina, the website is no longer in operation, so I am passing on the info.

Idan Jewelry is a company that operates on Ebay that makes quality personalized jewelry. I got my DJ name made in .925 sterling silver (double thickness) at a good price with free shipping. You can have it say anything from your real name, to DJ name, to your company, or anything that inspires you, with many fonts to choose from.

There are plenty of reputable companies making personalized jewelry on ebay. You just have to do a search for "nameplate" or "name necklace" and you are sure to find a bunch.

Moose shirts has a reggae section of t-shirts, mostly for men, and a few for women and children. Like most t-shirt sites, there are plenty of Bob Marley t-shirts, but if you go to pages 2 and 3 you will find some other original designs. They are one of the few sites that feature the reggae girl t-shirt. I already have that tattooed on my shoulder so I think it would look strange if I also was wearing it on my chest. I did buy my husband the King Tubby t-shirt. He's been wearing it for years and it has hardly faded, so that shows you the level of quality and/or the quality of my laundry skills.

Here is one of my own creations. I crocheted this scarf using an N hook with Red Heart Soft Yarn. I used a single crochet, 20 stitches across. It took me a few months because I worked on it little by little.

I'm also a huge ska fan. I got into ska in the early 90s, which led me to reggae. I even wore a prom dress with black & white checkers on it to my (now) husband's prom 13 years ago. Well now it's a bit cooler here in PA this morning due to a horrible storm that lasted for hours. So here are a few jackets from Culture Skate who make eco-friendly clothing in California. Soul Jewelry is a UK based business that specializes in custom made silver and gold jewelry. I bought this silver Trojan records pendant from them a few years ago. It remains one of my favorite pieces. Soul Jewelry has also put the familiar symbol on pins, earrings, and rings.

They also make scooter, fist of faith, microphone, and record insert jewelry. They even make cufflinks and pins for you gents. And the lady that I emailed back and forth with, couldn't have been nicer!

Since it is getting pretty warm here in PA, I'm featuring two pairs of cute red, gold, and green board shorts. The first pair is the Raisins Reggae Roots Shortie from Dogfunk.com for $33.95. The second is a pair I just got from Tillys.com. They are the Roxy Tavarua Boardshort. They came fast and feel comfortable. They look great with a red, gold, and green bikini top I also picked up.
